A PLEASE-ing Holiday Season

A PLEASE-ing Holiday Season

The holidays can bring with them a wide range of emotions, memories and activities. And the sensory aspects—sights, sounds, tastes, smells, and sensations—can further amplify the experience and may very well activate certain parts. Many people experience some form of anxiety and/or depression around holidays, which can be related to the stress of increased activities and events, financial strain around the expectations of gift giving, strained family relationships, troubling memories from the past, grief, or loneliness. Whatever the circumstance, it is often a time that requires increased attention to nurturing self-care and support. A proactive approach can help cultivate more ease, Self energy and emotional regulation so that the holiday season is a more pleasant and even enjoyable experience.

Preparing a plan ahead of time and being mindful of your care needs can offer tremendous support in navigating the holiday season and relieving any stress or difficult emotions. The PLEASE approach offers a few helpful strategies that help to support your overall wellness and align with Insight 8 – I Take Care of My System – May I be present as a source of strength for my parts.
